Accommodation

There are a large variety of accommodation options available in Pretoria, ranging from 5 star through to budget hotels, bed and breakfasts and guest houses at all levels of luxury, and resorts located within small nature reserves a short drive away from the Conference Venue. The Conference organisers have, however, identified a number of options that delegates can chose from, which are located in areas that are safe and from where transport arrangements can be made between the hotel and the Conference venue. Websites of the appointed hotels can be viewed on Internet.

Daily courtesy transport will be provided free of charge between some of the following hotels and the conference venue and to and from the conference social events.

The hotel is built of thatch, stone and natural materials and is set in park-like grounds on a private game sanctuary featuring giraffe, zebra and various types of buck. Lion and cheetah may be seen in park enclosures. Game drives can be organized with the hotel. Guests may relax in the peaceful ambience of the lounge or bar for a truly “African” experience. 24 hour security and ample parking ensures our guests’ peace of mind during their stay. The adjoining Silver Lakes Country club is available to the hotel guests for golf activities. The Farm Inn is not on the free conference shuttle route, so delegates will need their own transport. Green Bushpig Safaris is willing to organize daily shuttles to and from the CSIR venue at own cost (R190 pp, per day, one-way).

When entering Casa Toscana you will immediately be attracted to the high presence of imported Zambian Mukwe wood. Casa Toscana is a leisurely 10 minute walk (on a safe path) to the CSIR Conference Centre. It is not, however, near any shops or amenities so evening meals would need to be taken in the lodge or taxi transport can easily be arranged to nearby restaurants.

For those who do not wish to walk to the venue, the free conference shuttle can collect from Casa Toscana, on request.

Many other alternative accommodation options exist, especially if delegates hire their own car, as public transport systems are not adequate in South Africa.
